Why are there so many Scots in parliament??

Not wishing to fan the flames of cross border rivalries - but while just watching that newsnight thing on BBC1 about the terrorists, I noticed that at the time John Reid was Home Secretary and some other Scot was Transport Minister.
That Brown character was Chancellor.
WTF? Why so many Scots in the cabinet?? Is it because they care so deeply for the common man, so badly treated by corporate UK? Or that Scottish Universities breed career politicians who have no idea what inflation is, since they have never paid for a f
king thing in their life.
Not sure why they don't fk off and try to run Scotland instead, TBH.
