Mk 3 Golf GTi Not Starting

Car was fine when used a week ago. Today it spins over nice and easily. I can't hear the fuel pump priming when switching on, fuse is fine. I don't think this has an inertia switch, if it does I can't find it and anyway it's not been touched so unlikely.

I'm about to go and check and see if there's fuel at the rail and a spark but I'm (purely) guessing the pump has failed. Would it just conk out like that though? Any other components to check before I order a new one?
