Just read Clarkson's column in The Sun online and had to agree with everything he said; so either he's right or I've just turned into my Father....

Article here Clarkson

Seeing as I don't have to walk 20km just to get a bucket of muddy disease ridden water then no, Britain hasn't become a 3rd world country.

Clarkson makes alot of good points. Then he spoils it by putting his name to c**p like this. Pity because it makes the other stuff he says less credible.

Yes, I blame Tony and his Cronies and all the bloody red tape that goes along with everything! We no longer live in the Austin Powers type Britain!

Bring back Mrs Thatcher to tidy things up!

I used to quite like the guy but he seems to be simply prostituting his own credibility in order to appeal to the hard of thinking in order to make a few quid... of course the alternative could be he's just a fking idiot I guess.

Anyway... no.

MRSA, C. diff, another blue tongue case I see today, 2 foot and mouth outbreaks in the past few years, cost transport going up, pay staying or going down, food shortages, strikes. We are reverting back to the 70s! It took Labour 20 years to recover from it!

We are not a 3rd World country as yet but we are slowly sinking!

The day Clarkson did that 'review' of the Vectra, I lost all respect for him as anything other than a comical commentator of faintly motoring related jumble.

Not yet, but were almost there.
Perhaps another 10 years then the UK will be really stuffed.

Gosh, not enough food, no clean water supplies, dirt roads, no medical support, eyp, we're definitely a 3rd world country!

I sincerely doubt we'll have another 10 years under Labour for the next several decades at least, for which I am very grateful. It's a right mess, but not one that can't be sorted out. It had to be done last time they were in too.

One fair point might be than in limited areas of the larger cities we have allowed areas to be occupied almost exclusively by migrants from the third world who have done a pretty good job of carrying on exactly as they would have done in the third world.

But that's more to do with lack of integration, ghetto-isation in large cities, and immigration policy .... than the country as a whole.

If we continue the way we are doing stuff it'll be more like 3 years!

Call an Election Mr Brown! shout

I am in the worst situation I've ever been in, I'm on income support, I can't drive, I need a job, my shares are plummeting, I need the NHS to keep me alive literally!

Some well meant advice:
1. stop taking Clarkson seriously
2. stop taking the Sun seriously

Having said that, in jest he raises some real issues:
Clarkson said:
For us, not having a plasma television is the benchmark of poverty. For them, it’s not having a pig.
This is part of the modern UK disease - everyone thins they are really hard done by and few people with a passport have ever left these shores and visited real poverty. Which makes them fat, lazy and complacent and happy to put up with a public sector which is likewise, in general.

If we carry on saddling the productive bit of the UK, with the cost of upkeep of the non-productive, sat-on-their-arse-wattching-daytime-tv bit and the overblow public sector with layers-upon layers of non-jobs, then real poverty will come knocking here too.
