hard ride..

I took the little beast out for a blast last night as it was dry for once!!

On a few of my fave B-roads and there were no other cars around!! So i managed to keep a good speed up, but... i was being bounced all over the car as the ride was so harsh as the road was pretty bumpy, but i've never noticed the rd to be that bad in other cars i've driven..

Is it the same with your ars people??

No problems with my ars here. It's firm but not bumpy.

What shocks are you running?

It could be tired dampers, or springs riding too low and hitting the bump stops, or springs too hard, or a combination.

The V6 S cars are well known for having tired sagging coil-bound srings after a few years. Is it still riding on those or have they been changed? As peter says it could really be a combination of a whole list of things contributing to the effect you're feeling. Best get someone who knows the cars to have a ride in it, someone who knows suspension should be able to tell you in a few miles what you need to sort out.

I replaced my dampers and springs after 6 months. Best money I ever spent on the car. I went for AVOs, basically becasue they were cheap, I can only imagine what the car would be like with Gaz, Protech or Nitrons.

If your car is running on the originals, change them, get the car set up and the difference will be amazing!

Mine is pretty harsh on rough roads. Had her jacked up very slightly to avoid grounding and it works and rides less harsh too. I have full koni adjustable suspension on and it's hard as nails, wondering what the gaz shocks are like? I want to lower her again for looks and get some decent bigger wheels on her. But the ride will be really harsh then as tires will be lower profile and suspension will be lowerer too. I don't think there is a way around this - thoughts?

Have you got orange coloured Koni shocks?
If so they are probably the originals.

Might be worth checking your tyre presures, when I got mine I set them to the standard settings and the ride was terrible, I now run them at 21psi all round which is just right on ride quality.

this may be it, i did put some air in the tyres that day!!

It is always worth investing in a good digital tyre pressure guage mine was about a fiver from Halfords. 21 psi all round is just what works for me, your problem may lie elsewhere but it has to be worth checking !

I think I've seen kits for Gaz Shocks for £529 (thats all 4 shocks & springs).
To get the maximum benefit you need the geometry setting up, so the best deal is probably going to be buying the shocks & having them fitted as a package.

I think PPC fit something calle Racing Reds that are supposed to be quite good (don't ask me though!).
