http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QusmS7gC3-Y&feat... Bouncing off the rev limiter continuously whilst stationary.

Wonder if it's the same group who managed to do this? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article1... Not too smart posting it on YouTube if it is.

Didn't view the second link, but given the title of that first post, I assumed that the cars were hired for the wedding from one of the supercar clubs.

Can't imagine any sane owner would do that to their own pride and joy.

That doesn't look like a Murci to me!

Being the sun and all... I am sure the rest of the story is similarly accurate as well :-|

re. the Stun article: that's a Gallardo of course... not that such a point makes any difference - the Stun like to exxxxxxxagggggggerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttttteeeeeeee (sp?) as much as possible as we all know...

Also, as mentioned by DIW 35 - an actual owner wouldn't show such flagrant and needless disregard for their car or for the people either living nearby or at the gathering...

Surely an actual owner wouldn't do things like this?

Surely?

And what do you think they'll do? There's nothing they can do, assuming no permanent damage has been done. Yes it is obviously not good for the car but I doubt any lasting damage is present.

Apart from revving it from cold (which we can't say if they did) there is a rev limiter on the engine, so no real harm

I don't condone it though if theyre rentals, anyway I bet they never chose the bride

Probably more than you think.
Young Asian guy who works for me tells me stories like this all the time, any time there's a big wedding in the community these young guys turn up in supercars and absolutely thrash them. Mostly they are hired from a 'local' company started by a bloke in his twenties who's father is very rich. A Gallardo and an M5 have already been written off as far as I recall, maybe more.

He keeps asking me if he can borrow the 430! He's very sensible though, married, hard working and a regular at the mosque, so I'm sort of considering it. Very tricky decision!

I dont believe anyone with even the remotest bit of passion for cars would treat one like that. I just dont get it.

Idiots. Just,... idiots.

The last few years has seen a real boom in these supercar hire companies. They are everywhere now. Is it really that lucrative? Surely the amount of depreciation on the cars when they are sold on (due to high mileage + shagged + finance agreements) cannot leave these companies much in profit? Or is it just a great way for the owners to make 30-40k a year and get to drive around in lots of shiny Italian supercars pretending they are a millionare while impressing the ladies? "Yes love, I am an international oil tycoon - look at my fleet of supercars. I change them every 2 years too" smile

I wonder if the astronomical depreciation these cars are now suffering will be a prob for these companies?

Guess they probably have guaranteed future vales or something.
