Following on from a discussion in the pub last night I'm interested in finding out who exactly owns all the major Newspapers in this country. The person I was discussing this with was convinced that Murdoch controlled the Mirror but I was sure this wasn't true. Mind you, he was also convinced the typeface in the Telegraph was larger than than Times until I put them side by side to disprove this.

I need further ammunition for the second stage tonight when I will blind him with a plethora of media related facts!

Now I know News International owns The Sun, News of the World, Times and Sunday Times and that Trinity Mirror own the Mirror and Sunday Mirror but does anyone have a link to a definitive list?

Its fair to say that there are a limited number of people who either control or influence some of the media outlets in this country, and they use them as their own personal messageboards to influence things towards their particular way. In some cases they are utter loonies who need bringing down a peg or two, but a lot of the public dont realise what is happening.

Of course, some politicians and the like have their own ideas and try their own brand of spin to influence things too. PR is big business these days - its not necessarily about results or ability any more.

You had to be there smile. This week so far we've had discussions on the newspapers, the LHC, the demise of the red squirrel alongside the normal stuff (is the lady approaching the pub from the car park fit or not.)
