Am considering selling up (house, life etc getting in the way) but want to have something in mind to get excited about if I do decide to change.

So what replaced the elise in your life?

ETA: Also what would you replace it with if you still own one.

I'd replace mine with another one if I sold it.

I've only just got mine and have no intentions of getting rid..but if I did, if I was after a two seater with a roof for similar 111r money I would be tempted by a z4 coupe and plan to have one in the next year or so but difficult to justify two two seaters and a seven year old boy..

I think we are all spoilt for choice now with the range of nice cars out there and second hand prices recently so loads to choose from.

Other possibles for me if coming out of an elise:

Honda S2000
Boxster
Z4 convertible
Alfa spider new shape

and not two seater/convertible at all but Maserati 3200..because they are stupidly cheap.

But not to run I suspect.

Quite agree. The only car that I would change mine for at the moment (within financial reason) is a N/A Exige S2 in Kermit Green or Traffic Cone orange.

Ive already swapped and elise for another one S1 to S2 111r... LOL!

Cars that I would contemplate swapping the S2 for are: TVR T350, TVR Tamora, Z4 M, Ariel Atom, Noble, Exige S or Honda'd Elise, 911, Radical.

Hi Tony wavey- you had a 111S before didn't you? I seemed to remember you rated it very highly, was it "more" than a 111S or are they all that good ?
I take it the Exige (even pre-detailed) was significantly better ?

Hi wavey

Yup I had a black S2 111S, totally standard except for an exhaust and de-cat, and indeed - I rated it extremely highly.

Actually, I still owe RobM77 an explanation on a comment I made a couple of weeks ago but I think it's best to summarise that I'm not sure if the Exige is better, but it's certainly a whole lot faster. It's whether that extra speed is needed (particularly on the road) for the extra cost that it warrants - but that's a whole other thread biggrin

It's a fecking good car though!!!

Hope you're finding yours well?

A Caterham - no regrets. Wasn't as usable as the Elise (how often can you say that!?!) but as it was a toy car that didn't matter to me.

Z4!? Are you lot taking the mick?!

I had a Honda S2000. Great car and I was very fond of it, but it's not a patch on an Elise 111r. Just worse in every way. There's no way I'd swap my Elise for any other small, light 2 seater.

If I had to move to a car with more seats and luggage room etc I'd consider a subaru sti or mitsubishi evo.

Audi TTR then realised what a mistake i had made and bought a 111R within months. then had another rush to the head and swapped it for a Saab then again realised what a stupid boy i was and got another 111R.

DO NOT change from your Lotus, YOU WILL regret it. Buy a smaller house, squat, live on a bench. DO NOT change your car.smile

My first Elise I replaced with a TVR Griffith 500 - big mistake; if if you want the definition of 'brute force and ignorance', buy a Griffith!

My second Elise I replaced with an Elan Sprint and a Westfield FW400; the Elan for relaxed weekend fun and the Westfield for track days and the occasional adrenaline rush.

....with a S2 Exige, which was then replaced by a Caterham R500, except the guy buying the Exige couldn't get his money together so I decided to keep hold of it

If I replace mine it will be with either a Honda'd S2 or with a car that doesn't exist yet. There is no car currently on the market that I'd want to replace it with.

Replaced my 111S with the only thing that would better it, an Exige S
Both cars are in the Graphite (Gun Metal Finish)
