348 Engine Noise

I have recently bought a '93 348tb with a sports exhaust that is being de catted this weekend.
I understand the exhaust thats on it is a Borla and is quite a small box.

I've just been out in a 348 Spider which sounded completely different - My car has a real induction noise as the air filter feeds from pipes behind the quarter glasses. These are obviously not there on the Spider.

The 348 Spider had a sports exhaust with the cats on the same as mine but it sounded more like a 355 ?

Is this due to the later engine or a different make of silencer or the fact that the intake pipes aren't behind your ears in the Spider ?

I have a 93 Berlinetta, de-catted with Tubi.

I used to have a 93 Spider, de-catted with Tubi.

The Spider seemed louder and higher pitched. I can only assume that on the later engines (GTB/GTS/Spider) the higher plenums hid a slightly more aggressive cam?

SPider/GTB/GTS had a higher output engine 320hp rather than 300hp so obviously a few tweeks were done to the engine by ferrari

But what tweak would it be to make it a different engine tone ... I can only think of the cam.

I'm not saying it makes a bad noise, the noise is awesome just different than the Spider. The De Cats should give it more of an aggresive noise I'm hoping ?

Sorry Trace I've been working quite a bit recently - I'll bring it round and show you and Pete at the weekend cos I'm off ( after the De - Cats have gone on ).

I reckon the sound is down to the fact the Spider is GTB / S Spec with different Plenums.

Sadly I can't Tracey ... Vic has swanned off on a girls long weekend to Spain and I am left looking after Gabby and Max ... I can't even bring them as our socialite 5 yr old has a party on Saturday and another on Sunday!

Me n Max'll just stay in and watch the Ferrari race on Sunday.
