Bolt extraction
Discussion
Whoever built my new bike has overtightened the front dérailleur bolt so much that today it pinged off into the canal, leaving me with no gear selection. While not a massive problem, the threaded part of the bolt (the one that grips the cable) is stuck in the mechanism.
Anyone ever tried extracting such a bolt? I'm happy to give it a go, and frankly I can't be arsed with Merlin Cycles any longer. I'm going to go over the bike to see what other mistakes they've made. In 20 years of messing with bikes I have never snapped a bolt.

You're f
ked then.
Only kidding. Can you not reach the back of the screw and twist it out?
Or score a groove in the top bit of the thread and use a flat bladed screw driver to undo it.
Or drill a small hole in the middle of the screw, bang in an allen key and undo it.
Or use a screw extractor bit - available from B&Q or such like.
