I hope it's a complete flop personally and shows what an outdated and useless infrastructure we have. Who knows, maybe then the government will invest rather than assuming it's ok?

What a bunch of doubting Thomas' - no wonder this country is in decline with such negative outlooks. It will be a great success.

Oh grow up Timmy (childish name so even if you aren't 12 you act like it). Just because I believe in my country does not mean I have any respect for Gordon Brown so the change of my quote is preposterous

Have some faith in this country or fk the hell off. Until it happens moaning and groaning and cynically damning the ability for it to work doesn't really add much does it now? Bet you thought we'd come away from Beijing without any medals too didn't you?

I think you need to drink a bit less coffee mate, or try some kind of relaxation therapy.

It will be a success if you overlook the huge cost to the taxpayer.

The optimist in me would love to see a huge success and a truly world-class event.

The realist in me thinks it will fall somewhat short of that ideal. Transport especially will likely suck.

If you get one of the 4-figure fines for forgetting the facts of anti-car private transport life and daring to motor in the Zil Lanes reserved for Ministers and other worthless notaries, it sure will.

Would have been better of spending the money on a Holiday.

EXACTLY, the taxpayers pay for it all, the IOC bonces get a handy $5-15 million each as a small backhander, the advertisers pay for their damned coke or macst ads, the "sportsmen" dope themselves, and the paying public doesn't get tickets because they're so inflated no-one can afford them....
The olympic moral standards (doping, advertising, amateurism) have been dropped so it's a gimme gimme free-for-all...
Stop the London Olympics before it bankrupts GB permanently... If teh frogs want it then let them waste their time and money...

I think that's a little unfair, the olympics in London may be a mistake, and I'm sure we're all going to pay for it wether we like it or not, but don't disregard the phenomenal work and dedication it takes these people to get to the very top of their game.
Even if they are all doped up on some wonder drug that we've never heard of, you think you or I could just shove it in our veins, get up off the couch and suddenly run a 4 minute mile? IF they are (and I'd like to think most aren't) it's the difference of what? 9.9 seconds to run 100m against 9.8 seconds?
