Been pondering over this for a few days now, I've boxes and boxes of books that I'll never read again, and I can't be bothered to get them onto Ebay, so I've thought what about a PH Book Club swap shop:

You list what you have to swap, and you request what you'd like.

You can then browse through what others have got, and then email/post the person asking if they want to swap?

What do others reckon, something we could get going?

IIRC The Grauniad had something just like that, in the days before the interweb, where readers could ask for books they especially wanted but couldn't find. However now that people can just go to Amazon or Abebooks, I'm not sure it would get much use.

I've got the 1977 edition of the Encyclopedia Britanica if anyone wants some light reading at bed time?

If I could have it back by Christmas that would be lovely.

Well, I think this is a great idea! But how would it be implemented? Would people post a list of what they have to swap, or would you just say what you want and hope someone has it?
