From radio today... in a school, two members of staff were discussing the Cerne thingy and one said to the other 'They're trying to find the Higgs Boson'. Another member of staff passing who just caught the end of it said 'Have you looked in Lost Property?'

Whether or not they found one in there was not revealed.

I heard of someone (not saying how close) who's PhD thesis was on the Higgs Boson. He was viva'd (orally tested, for those who don't know) by Higgs himself. After this was all done it was time for "Corrections" (traditionally the examiner points a few out so you can correct the final draft).

"I have 87 corrections.", says Higgs, "My name is spelt with TWO G's!"...

I believe he passed.

Ironically, if they actually exist at all then there'll be Higgs Bosuns particles in both the lost property cupboards and down the back of the sofa.

It's the proving that they're there that's the difficult bit.
