Provided Iberia doesn't go bust before 23rd September and leave me stranded in Las Palmas, I don't really care.

Alitalia are in big trouble but arguably have government support, so unlikely to stop overnight

I've heard some worries about Globespan though, but until anything's confirmed I'm not taking that as fact

News is saying Alitalia havent got any fuel. I seem to remember that it was fuel hedging, or lack of that brought XL into the st.

Italian Gov are busy with Hamiltons dust caps AFAIK

Alitalia won't actually cease operations completely. They will survive in some form thanks to the Italian government, although I suspect as a far smaller entity than it is now, or as a partner of a major player, more interested in codeshares on prized airport slots than anything else.

When I last spoke to my brother (1/2 brother) about 2 years ago he was flying for these guys........I only hope he's moved on. He used to work for Scotair and I can't believe they're still going!

Don't just voice your opinion here.
Put your money where your mouth is. Most bookies are now giving odds on which one will be next. Such as http://www.paddypower.com/bet?action=go_type&c...

Definitely the Itals! Once the media get hold of it the customers lose confidence and don't book - so it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy!

Flybe increased their profit this year, and have pretty much the most economical fleet. Thought Alitalia were already in adminstration...maybe not. LOT will be safe so long as Polish people keep coming over here/going back home. Hmm...who to choose!

Hate to be a pain, but my interest is in getting to Larnaca in November. Where are Monarch and Cyprus Airways in all this? Is there a safer an alternative from Manchester?

Monarch will be okay - they're getting an extra 40,000 more passengers from XL...although they may have run out of cheap fuel by the time you fly...
