wet carpets !!! help !!!
Discussion
inside my carpets are soaking wet, the water lays heavier down both sides of the seat, i keep drying them out and every time its wet out it just fills up, i removed nearly half a bucket full of water, and I'm sure you will agree thats not good, it does not seam get wet washing the car, but when driven it is more like a boat, has anyone got any pics or advise on sealing the floor as this is where im sure the problem lies, and it it likely to be the front or the back that the water is coming in from, any tips or advise would be great, many thanks
I just got some black silicone sealant and covered the edges under the car where the floor is attached and covered the rivets. However this didn't completly sort it as i was out in the monsoon last week. I have now pulled up the carpet (very easy) and sealed it inside. I think the water gets up onto the floor pan where the fuel pump is it then rolls down the seals of the car an leaks into the carpet that way.

Hi, had a similar issue, perhaps a little less water involved though..
Get under the car then drill out and replace all the loose rivets. Use silicone sealant, (I used clear) and run down the seams with it.
I also lifted the carpets where I suspected the ingress and ran a seam of sealant down the edges for good measure. No water in the car since and it has seen a good thunder storm.
Good luck, hope this helps.

are right, well he would not want to follow me down the road as the amount of water i got out of the carpets when i put my boot down it probably leaves a spray out the back, is tony one of the guys that was at speed trials?
Yeah but he left before us 3. there is a pic of his on the speed trial link.

hi,
i had a problem like yours, but only when driving backwards in the wet. i also found it bad when doing donuts. i find that rolling towels up and placing them on the floor helps soak it up. you just need to take them out when you have done. i have a mate who is a really good bathroom installer and he has put some bath seal round all the joins this has helped but i find it whisles a bit at speed. also i was on the motorway and a piece came off a landed on a bently i was racing, whoops, any way good luck hope you get her dried up.
