My Dad had one for a little over a year...It was a GT, which he sold his ageing S14 for. Which he now regrets.
The car just doesn't have the wow factor...yes it looks good, sounds good, handles and stops well, which to the everyday driver is probably ideal. But it's not a proper Nissan and you can clearley tell when driving/owning it. Also the deperciation isn't pretty.

To be fair, until the credit crunch they held their value far better than most - on a par with Elises for % loss over 3 years. Now the bottom's fallen out of the used car market everything has depreciated horrifically especially sports and luxury. Some of the problems with the earlier models seem to have been ironed out later on - my '06 one hasn't had any problems whatsoever apart from corroding alloys, and "they all do that sir".
You should also be aware that the UK models are usually better specced than the JDM imports - in particular a lot of JDM ones don't have Brembo brakes, which you'll want, and they're an expensive addition at a later date (~£1000 secondhand). Some insurers also charge a lot more for JDM imports which doesn't make sense as they're all built in the same factory.

theap runaround is a proper Nissan (built in Sunderland), but my '06 350z (built in Japan) isn't!!Priceless!

Retro Nissan, dude, retro Nissan! Some people dont want anything to do with Renault , cant blame them.
Whether they are better or worse is another matter but something has definatly been lost in designs of late, cant help thinking its down to trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear given with the base material they get from Renault

How quickly folks forget the god awful cars they had in their troubled years before they partnered with Renault.. The late 90's where they desperately tried to copy Lexus, but was just so 'crap'... Whatever anyone says, renault saved Nissan, and certainly improved the company. Now whether the 'purists' who like to get all rose tinted about that period feel admit it is another thing... But sheesh, Nissan were just about to go down the plughole...
im a 350z owner and have met the designer of the car and have been involved in a presentation from nissan europe regarding their sports car program....the chat on this topic is not really that accurate with regard to merger with renault and what nissan are trying to do...
i dont work for nissan...just impressed with what their future plans are and how they want to deliver their brand and future sports models to the public!!!!

Never mind the corporate machinations, the Zeds a great car and the early uk models are brilliant value for money. I'm also a www.350z-uk.com member, its a great site and club.
