As I write this I have a perfect glass of Guinness sitting on the coffee table in front of me.

Is it just me that thinks that Guinness is one of the finest and most beautiful alcoholic drinks in the world?

Nope, it's not just you, it's the only thing I drink (and coffee out of my Guinness mug!).

As far as mass-produced drinks go, Guinness is definitely up there with the best. I do like my single malts and cask ales though!

Some good Guinness news: Diageo are going to build a new Guinness brewery in Leixlip, Co. Kildare, where Arthur Guinness founded the company. Good to see that Diageo understands the importance of the brand!

I like to drink a freshly pulled Guinness before it settles, all velvety and creamy and chocolatey. Apparently this is very very wrong and quite upsets people.

The worst pint of Guinness I was ever served was in the Guinness Brewery in Dublin (too cold).

The best was in a spit n' sawdust bar in the west of Ireland - heaven in a glass.

On that trip I was with a friend who had never drunk Guinness before. She sampled half a pint and every day after that was the first to ask, "Is it Guinness time yet?" I think the earliest was 9.40am...
