Some pics from the 4000+ mile tour in the 'ro
Discussion
As per my thread prior to heading off, myself and Mrs Baz decided to do somewhat of a touring holiday this year instead of the normal sunning our asses on the beach style holibag.
We had 3 cars to choose from, well when I say choose from it meant if I was stupid enough then I could have chosen either of the other two, safe to say that the Monaro was always top of the list and was cleaned and polished the weekend before we set off.
You may be saying "pah, it's only a drive around the UK", but you have to remember the car is currently over here in Germany with me and would be starting and so would be starting and finishing the holiday here.
Brief run-down of the plans were as follows:-
Day 1 - Destination Glasgow (Aachen, Germany > Glasgow)
Day 2 - Recovery day and sort out some paperwork at mum's place
Day 3 - Run into Glasgow for the day
Day 4 - BTCC Day 1 @ Knockhill
Day 5 - BTCC Day 2 @ Knockhill
Day 6 - Destination Glasgow (day trip visiting various spots)
Day 7 - Destination Edinburgh (Eddieburger Castle and Royal Mile etc)
Day 8 - Destination Stirling (Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument and Falkirk Wheel)
Day 9 - Destination Ireland (touring around Northern Ireland)
Day 10 - Destination Isle of Skye (Glasgow > Oban > Fort William > Isle of Skye)
Day 11 - Destination John O'Groats (Kyle > Ullapool > Kinlochbervie > Durness > John O'Groats)
Day 12 - Destination Inverurie (Wick > Dunrobin Castle > Loch Ness > Culloden > Inverurie)
Day 13 - Tour Of The Castles (9 different castles visited)
Day 14 - Saying Goodbye To Scotland (Inverurie > Glasgow)
Day 15 - Destination Blackpool (Glasgow > Blackpool)
Day 16 - Destination Cardiff (Blackpool > Cardiff)
Day 17 - Destination London (Cardiff > London for the day)
Day 18 - Homeward Bound (London > Aachen, Germany)
So, that was the plan with each day having us stop off at between 5 and 10 "attractions" along the way for a quick visit and to snap some pics - sadly I never really thought about snapping the Monaro at various places until a few days in, but either way there was still plenty pics of it at various stages of the holiday (and ever increasing grubbyness):-
Image 1 - On the North coast of Ireland

Image 2 - On Benone Beach, Northern Ireland

Image 3 - On route to Skye (Castle Stalker in background)

Image 4 - In the Glencoe area

Image 5 - On the Isle of Skye (windy as hell as Mrs Baz is showing everyone)

Image 6 - On the Isle of Skye

Image 7 - Isle of Skye (looking back towards Portree area)

Image 8 - At the top of the Quiraing (breathtaking views from here)

Image 9 - Bridge connecting Kyle and Isle of Skye in background

Image 10 - On route to Ullapool

Image 11 - Quick stop at Glascarnoch Dam on way to North Coast of Scotland

Image 12 - Norse Source area of North West Scotland

Image 13 - Starting to get quite barren prior to reaching Ullapool

Image 14 - On the North coast of Scotland and heading to Durness

Image 15 - Heading towards John O'Groats (the coastal way)

Image 16 - Brief stop at Kinlochbervie on North West Coast of Scotland

Image 17 - "Now where are we going again?"

Image 18 - Heading East along North Coast of Scotland (stunning views)

Image 19 - See what I mean?

Image 20 - Visiting "Smoo Cave" near Durness

Image 21 - Approaching Thurso area on North coast of Scotland

Image 22 - A lot of careful driving on single track roads brings us to John O'Groats

Image 23 - In front of the John O'Groats hotel

Image 24 - Heading South again (well otherwise we'd be en route to Orkney and Shetland)

Image 25 - After visiting Dunrobin castle, north of Inverness

Image 26 - Crossing one of many bridges connecting to peninsula's

Image 27 - Can you see Nessie here? We didn't that's for sure

Image 28 - Castle Tour day now, Huntly castle sort of visible through the trees

Image 29 - Thankfully we didn't pay this place a visit during the 18 day tour

Image 30 - Almost as quick as a dab of the right foot it was home again

Image 31 - Just to give you a better view of our house (yeah right - ha ha)

Image 32 - The beastie was looking a little dirty by the time we were home again

Image 33 - Time for a good wash, then to the garage for a well earned rest

All in all a great trip away - over 4000 miles covered from start to finish, around 680 litres of fuel used (so the credit card was left smoking), but well worth it and the big chap didn't miss a beat the whole way!!!
I'm in the process of putting all our pics from the 18 day tour online on my website - see www.bazpics.com and click on updates for all the pics online so far - only pics from London still to be put online at this stage

Nice one Baz. Reminds me of our trip up to the Highlands in the 'ro (we only managed a mere 2200 miles though). The roads and the scenery are great up there aren't they. Got some similar pics here...same car and same scenery...spooky! Glad to hear the 'ro behaved itself too. Thanks for sharing.

Great pictures looked excelent
.Where abouts in blantyre did you stay i`m about 5 minutes from there near East Kilbride.Have you tried the Nurburgring yet? I was there last july with the skyline owners club its awesome.
I was down in Priory Bridge for the first 26 years of my life (minus a 1.5 year stay in Shetland along the way), before my first move away in 2001. Most of my working life in haggisland was up in EK at Motorola (when it was still Motorola, and still making product), real shame it's being mothballed if not already complete.

I would have video of the laps online, other than the fact that my insurance policy for the 'ro has the text "including the Nurburgring Nordschliefe" in the forbidden uses section
