Picked up the new motor Saturday, chuffed to bits, near on two years of scouring the classifieds is over.
A quick thank you to James Agger, would recommend him to anyone.
Had a small niggle already, the speedo has 'flicked' a couple of times but i'll have a look at that later.
Running wise, i've made a note in the book, oil running at 60, water at 90 on the run, quickly rising to 100 in traffic, fans cut in bringing it down quickly when necessary <phew> always a worry watching it go up though! Anyone had any thoughts on the coolant mixture to aid keeping it low, doesn't a 70/30 mix tend to work better than the bog standard 50/50 in most performance applications? (water better than coolant at heat dissipation), would this be an issue in the cerb?
Will have to hook up a laptop, see what differences there are between the guages and what that picks up as I believe the dash can read high?
Wife loves it, although she did stall it twice (same place) entering a roundabout and had a panic "what do I do, what do I do" - "how about you press the start button darling?"
Anyway, she's all tucked up in bed (car), only a fairly small single garage, fits fine and importantly, wife can get to tumbled dryer still
Sadly
I'm going on Holiday for two weeks Tuesday morning, I should be happy, but gutted to be leaving the new addition to the family alone so soon.
Thanks to everyone for all the help, hopefully I will be able to contribute myself.
PS
Aren't they just the most beautiful car ever. Smitten.

Congrats.
Oil pressure sounds good but make sure it doesn't get too low when at hot idle. Also it should rise and fall a bit with revs.
If it doesn't get it checked, it might be just the oil pressure relief spring which needs replacing (cheap).
The coolant mixture is an interesting one. You could change to a mixture of water and water wetter for summer and back to normal
water/anti-freeze for winter. In reality though your car should not need it, if it isn't fine with a normal coolant mix all year round then
get it checked. You are correct in thinking there is room for improvement though. Probably the best thing you could do is get is get
a trackcar cooling chip mod done. This will simply change the fan cut in temps and avoid the large temp swings you have been seeing.
I see you have already noticed that the temp gauges are not as accurate as you would hope!
All the cars are slightly different though and in time you will get used to what is 'normal' for your car.

Mine sits at 80-85ish in winter - 85-90 on a run goes to I think about 100 when the fans kick in and the fans go off at 95. Never gone hotter than 105, even in London Thunder 3 hour traffic jam. I've changed the pipes, had the rad rebuilt, stainless manifold and it always does the same. Gauge seems to map the readings from the diagnostics so I've not worried about it.
Oh - and welcome to ownership.

two weeks away... cerby might sulk and decide to greet you with a flat bat on your return.. why not get her a going away pressy and plug her in just before you go !! save any grief on your return....
Yep - you'll need a set of jump leads if you ain't got a trickle charger, after two weeks untouched. You took almost as long to find yours as I did - keep enjoying her!
