I have finally got round to getting a new aerial as the present one doesn't come off or fold away, so I cannot use the car cover I've got, but...

Try as I might I cannot get the old aerial off! It is one of those fixed, black plastic springy ones. I assume you need to hold the bottom plastc nut while turning the bolt ontop - it turns and turns but only comes away a few mm Is this the correct way to remove it? Am I going to need to resort to a hack saw?

Used the hacksaw in the end - came off without too much trouble.

New aerial now fitted. Doesn't sound great but will do - I mainly use CD anyway. Quality might be down to it being a cheap Halfords Aerial or my fairly poor wiring ability (centre wire kept breaking ) - although it did sound better once I connected the earth up too
