cooked the rear brakes on the 350i over the weekend mad so before i start looking around could some one confirm that they are xj6 calipers on the rear.

Yes - XJ6 / XJS - Diff, discs, Calipers, handbrake.

There was a guy on Ebay a while back doing new discs for £12 a pair, worth a search!

i haven't had the time to look but are the rear calipers on the 350i 1987 single or double cylinders as there is £30 between them.

you can get repair kit's also.
New pistons and seals etc.

I'm not sure about UK pricing but in the States if you add the price of four pistons to two repair kits you're close enough to the caliper price.

And after you have wound out those four bolts you are gonna say, I wish I had bought the caliperssmile

Put some grips (Mole) on the handbrake cable before you take off the handbrake calipers. This will prevent it coming free in the tunnel.
You don't want that....cable under car very greasy...inside tunnel very clean.
Wash hands ten times for one easy little job.
