After 2 weeks of ownership, thought I was in for a big bill
Discussion
Having finally got ownership on an HSV GTS
, I was gutted to hear that under acceleration when pulling out of a junction recently, there was this sickening metallic scraping type sound
Immediate thought was that one of the CV joints was on it's way out as all was well when driving above 40mph and in a straight line
The sound was not deep / solid enough to be axle related, but could have been a UJ bearing failure on the prop ( had a few of these with my old Dolomite Sprint )
Trolley Jack and axle stands out, no sign of anything untoward
I though, it's no good I'm ging to go online and ask my imaginary friends on the forum for advice
Imagine my intense pleasure when having just about given up the investigation I fired him up and found that the whole reason for the noise was a weld on one of the exhaust brackets had split.
10 minutes later with the mig welder and all is now AOK
Over the moon that instead of a £500+ bill ( just when I can do without one ) and weeks without the car, 20p worth of wire / gas and we're good to go
Created myself a new Ipod file to celebrate with some top tunes from my trip to Oz 10 yrs ago and a sunny drive out
(The Living End - perfect spirited drive music)
Happy Days !
