Having a little trouble with my Fabia VRS at the moment, @ 62k I had the cambelt done and at the same time the water pump was replaced. Since then I have been suffering with a water leak from the cooling system, generally it will last 4 days before needing a top up. The car has now just passed 68k and the problem is still on going.

The cooling system has been pressure tested at 2 garages and nothing has been found to be wrong. Just need some advice on what it might be?

Can it be the Pump?

There appears to be residue from a leak water below the Reservoir Bottle / pump area, could it be leaking through the Overflow of the Res Bottle? (there looks to be water on a pipe directly below which wouldn't be affected by the pump)

Someone mentioned the Head gasket but I would have thought the symptoms would be a lot worse than a slight leak....

I am driving the car to Italy on Saturday so I'm running out of time to get it sorted!!!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Someone please help!!!

I had the problem happen to me again yesterday, but noticed something new!

When I removed the cap from the resivoir bottle (when cold) there was still a build up of air pressure causing the water to overflow as if it was hot!! - Just spoken to the Garage and it seems this could point to the Head Gasket! Anyone else suffered from this? Could it be something else??

Thanks

Tom

Had the same problem on my vRS mate. Garage found it was a small leak on the bottom of the radiator. The car was JUST out of Warranty but they replaced it anyway.

The old fashioned way of fixing a hole in the coolant system was to put a raw egg into the top of the radiator. When the engine was cold, then start her up and drive her - the yoke will find its way to the hole and as its hot it cooks the yoke so should block it.

However a new rad if thats the problem is the way to go

It will also block around 10% of the cooling potential too, its ok as an emergency to get you home, but thats about it.
