All systems running, a little issue to sort on the rear brakes and then proper mapping session next week and testing thereafter.
I have to admit that after almost a year of work to install an entirely new engine, transmission, wiring, fuel system etc etc, it was a very, very sweet moment when it fired up yesterday.

Unfortunately I was on the phone to work when the thing finally fired. So much for the video camera capturing the first moments!!
I'm still a bit worried about heat management and the diff mounts (which have been supplemented with another mount) - we'll have to see what happens in testing.
As for Oulton - the car needs to be properly tested before I will put it in a race. Also it will only do rolling starts - like the Moslers the driveshafts and stub axles won't take a full bore start or wheel spinning to put heat in the tyres. If we were to do a Challenge race we'd have to start from the pit lane. Or qualify at the back....
Anyway, I think we're running before we can walk - apart from popping it through the gears on the rollers it hasn't turned a wheel under its own power yet, its too early to talk about races!

.The exhausts are 'cut and shut' AJP manifolds and collectors using LS flanges. The down pipes and silencer box are AJP.
I had a set made up identical to Tim's but when I got we discovered that my engine must sit lower than Tims - the manifolds wouldn't clear the chassis tubes. Mark the Exhaust Man (I've forgetten his company name or I would give hmi a plug) came down and remade them to suit.

Hi Leigh - you're absolutely right, I could pull away slowly. However I'd like to think that I might qualify reasonably far up the grid, in which case pulling away slowly increases the chance of me being hit up the rear quite considerably. Which is never nice, but even less so in a new car.
It has been built with GT racing in mind, so we haven't put in any electronic aids for standing starts. We may add traction control for next year and I guess something could be done with a map. Thinking about it TC wouldn't really help as the driveshafts would have snapped before the wheels started spinning.
If we do a Tuscan Challenge race or two it will be to help get the average grid up to keep championship status, not to go pot hunting, so it wouldn't bother me starting from the pits.
