Could Someone please tell me the reasoning for people doing this?

i see it done with people with new bikes and old nails alike..

at first i thought.. maybe its to stop the seat getting wet in the rain ?!?! but that would be ridiculous wouldn't it?

but the majority of them just jump on and ride away with the bag still in place, holding oceans of water in all the creases of the bag..

so again.. could someone please explain this mystery to me?

thx

Stops you getting a wet crotch through the bk-preserving saddle cutout.

I also thought it was stupid, until I bought a seat with a perforated surface. The rain seeps into the foam, then seeps out into the crotch of your shorts next time you sit on it, which is initially embarrassing until you realise you haven't just pissed yourself.

Yep, I think this is the reason, if I leave my bike out in the rain even with a cover on it water gets through to the seat and then the foam and then leaks out during the ride, the only way to stop that is to stick a decent plastic bag on the seat as well at night.

I guess some people just leave their's on all the time
