Does anyone know of a butchers where I could get fresh squirrel meat from? Either near Chepstow or mail order.
I've had a quick google and nothing obvious came back.

We really like rabbit and other game, so thought this would make a nice change.
Thanks

umm... why pay, why not just get an air rifle then shoot all the squirrels you like.

not red ones mind, there on the endangered list, would get into trouble with the law if they found out.

Fair enough, just wanted to compare to rabbit, etc.

I could shoot my own if it wasn't for two things:
1) I struggle to hit a barn door with a shotgun, trying to hit a small moving target? No chance!
2) I've tried gutting fish and rabbit and have not ended up with much edible meat at the end of it, I wanted to leave it to the professionals.

Your best bet would be to have a word with a quality olde worlde butcher. Somewhere that sells wild rabbits and home made game pies. My local butcher is supplied with wild rabbits form a local shoot (dunno if there shot or trapped - i have never bit into any lead pellet.)

I'm sure they can have a word with the supplier, most would be happy to do this for you. Not much meat on em, i'd buy 2 per person.

The only thing i could find online is the story about this place in Northumberland selling it. Might be worth tracking them down.
