I've got a 2006 BMW 330, which I'm reasonably happy with. Anyway, I recently bought an iPhone (after checking bluetooth compatibility on the BMW website). As predicted, I couldn't get the damn phone and the car to talk to each other so I took it to my local BMW dealer and a chap had the thing working in about 30 seconds. It lacked some menu functions but hands-free was fine, which was what I wanted.

Then this week it stopped working. Today I took it back to the dealer who couldn't get it to work and she said that only 2007+ models are compatible. I asked why did it work fine for two months, and she said "it was just lucky". I though "how the hell does luck have anything to do with it?" anyway, this evening it fixed itself and now it's now fine.

Any ideas?

Check out this link.
It tells you the "compatibility"
I'm amazed they havent put "maybe" as a column!

Mine works reasonably well in my March 06 Z4M, no menus but can dial out from the phone and answer with the steering wheel button.

sometimes they can lose the pairing.... just delete it off and re pair it... the bluetooth as far as im aware is a wireless connection, so technically as long as you have it on you phone and in the car it should work... you will just have too dial the numbers etc yourself from the phone...no phone book etc

where did you take it ????
