The silliest.Funiest car story.
Discussion
Following on from my ealrier thread, anyone got any silly car stories?
Here's one to kick it off....
Back in the 1980s family friend has a company Ford Orion - nothing special, in red probably a GL - loads of them around.
It gets broken into and the stereo is nicked along with a few personal posessions.
He takes it to the garage to get it sorted - and serviced. He gets one of his team to pick the car up from the garage later.
Driving home, he realises the radio needs tuning - all the wrong presets. No problem. He also notes that the garage had done something to the heater. It is much hotter than before. He likes that.
A couple of weeks later and his Dad is helping him load stuff into the car. The old man comes into the house muttering something about theiving b
ds and how they need stringing up etc. "They even took your towbar son. When are you getting it replaced?" My friend goes out and indeed there is no tow bar on his Orion. What's more the car was wearing an "e" plate. his was a "d".He calls the garage. Sure enough his car is there. They'd assumed he was on holiday and had left it there. They'd given the lad who'd picked his har up a demo model from another branch! That branch assumed it had been sold the garage who had the car assumed it had gone back to the branch.
My friend kept the demo model for a day or so. To give them time to fix what he now realsied was a duff heater in his car.

I was in a car with a friend last 2 weeks ago and it had been raining really heavily. He figured his SLK AMG would be fine going through the huge flood up ahead if he had enough speed. Apparently a new engine is cheaper than repairing the damage that hydrolock can cause!
How do you "bend everything and crack the casing" in an engine anyway?!
