A Class help

Hi, I am looking for an A class for my wife and have seen a 2002 Evolution model. I have no experience at all with these cars, I drive a 5 series. Could anyone give me some info/help on what to look for. i.e cambelt/chain? servicing sequence/costs, faults to look for.

No cam belt as chain driver.

Service cost's vary so much on age milage and what dealer or garage you use
