Hi all,

had my monaro 07 plate for 2 months now, starting to look at mods, can anyone tell me if they have fitted a supercharger to a standard cv8 i.e without changing the exhaust? and what results it yielded? I am aware the brakes are rubbish but am prepared to nurse them if need be. My other thoughts were change the diff to 3.91 and maybe the monkfish performance pack again anyone with experience of these mods please do let me know what its like,

TA!

Blown CV8`s run fine on std exhaust and headers.
In fact the VXR500 does exactly that.
Don`t put the 3.9 diff in if you do go FI as the two mods don`t go together well.

i presume by your comment that a 07 VXR will run fine FI on standard exhaust etc

Many supercharged Monaros have standard-ish exhausts. I say -ish as the cat back is often fitted to hear the V8 sound a bit better.

leave the diff if you go FI as you will get loads of unwanted wheelspin, especially in the wet. Exhaust will be fine but you will need brakes; forget about nursing the standard oned because if you need to stop quickly you will be screwed. Expect to pay around £5.5k for a new blower inc installation & mapping. Power output will vary but you are looking at 500-530fwhp. Call Mark at RapidGB & Roger at Monkfish for a proper chat about your requirements.

Also, forget about fitting it yourself because the etc throttle body of your car will foul the bonnet and it needs to be modified to fit.

Should be fine although do not have the 3.91 diff as it cannot handle it.

Brakes would be an issue i would suggest.

Apart from those two nothing else I would add.

Stock exhaust would hold you back quite a bit. But can be changed later.

oh and make sure its an intercooled kit if fitting to a LS1

Make that to ANY engine.. Jez will agree with this Im sure.

From basic chemistry, pv=nrt (ie) Double intake temp and you halve the airmass and therefore power (Temp is in degrees kelvin FYI)

Don't know about the Harrop but the Maggie comes with all the bits including Intercooler.

I always thought that the letters stood for

P is the absolute pressure (SI unit: pascal)
V is the volume (SI unit: cubic metre)
n is the amount of substance (loosely number of moles of gas)
R is the ideal gas constant (SI: 8.3145 J/(mol K))
T is the thermodynamic temperature (SI unit: kelvin).

He's quoting Ideal Gas Law, but don't worry about that.

You'll have noticed your 'Ro produces more power on cooler days, especially when it's about 5 degrees and the rear tyres keep letting go... All Ringram is saying that cooler air into the engine allows the engine to produce more power.

Or... for the more technically minded.

Superchargers are like women, as soon as the day heats up they really don`t like to work and would prefer to lie down and sunbathe. (I made up the sunbathing bit )

I learnt it most in chem not physics. Because that's what I did most of.

But yeah, anyway you guys get the picture. Power is proportional to intake temp.

Keep intake (and engine temps down) to optimal levels for free power smile
