For "recommended" please read "paid a fee" - you could be the worst detailer out there but pay the fee and your now recommended!!!http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.p...

If we were to allow everyone to advertise, whether full-time or not, the "I paid £50 for someone to burn through every other panel" post would be inevitable hence why we set up the supporter scheme.
You also need to think about how much advertising £150 a year would buy you elsewhere - almost all of our supporters state that they've earned that figure and more by supporting DW by way of jobs which in turn, for the good detailers, generates more work.
In any instance, poor work or complaints are taken seriously and I'm pleased to say that we have had very few where work has been poor or the detailer has upset the client.
A true approved" scheme would be almost impossible to both set up and police - and approve initially. None of the DW forum management, with one exception, are employed in the industry and whilst we're all enthusiasts (some with a very high level of skill) none of us feel qualified to grade a professional detailer's work.
Like I say though, I can see where you're coming from so that's why I've replied in an attempt to clear the murk. Personally I'd like to see more professional detailers joining and actively contributing to the forum and no that's not because I have a commercial interest - I've earned not a penny from my involvement and I haven't expected to. It was an honour being asked (although I guess that the owners sometimes regret it because of my no BS views on certain things...!)and I'd certainly agree that, forums anywhere aside, the best way to find a good detailer is to ask others.

One of the posts further up the page had suggested looking there for a recommended detailer, hence my reply, I should have worded it better!!!
Cheers

Also as already explained if any of the guys on the list work wasn't up to standard it would usually be clear from the posts in the studio section of which they pay the privilige for.
Most of the guys in the southern section I have met or spoken to at some point or another and would be confident to recommend or refer work to.
