Tissot T-Touch Expert
Discussion
Anyone got one?
I've been thinking about buying one of the new Expert models, but am unsure as to the ownership experience. I have a friend with a regular T-Touch and he complains about reliability (his is a few years old), and also about the fact that it isn't suitable for use in the shower, swimming, etc.
The Expert is meant to address the latter of those problems, but at the expense of it being huge (according to the reviews). Added to which, I fancy buying an orange example and, at present, I can only find regular T-Touches in that colour.
Decisions, decisions.

I have a fairly early version, similar to the one on the right of that shot but made in Ti with a black face, black rubber strap, slightly smaller LCD panel and without all the fancy guff on the bezel - mine just has N . . . E . . . S . . . W on the bezel.
So not like the one on the right at all then
IMHO the new one is a bit of a dogs dinner, with either the number markers having lumps chopped out of them or the number 3 and 4 in a small font and different colour.
And the bezel on some I've seen is over fussy for me too, although the ones above aren't too bad actually.
If I had seen that watch when I bought mine I'd have put it back because it just looks .. well .. over egged and not well thought out if you see what I mean. I think they got it right with the early versions myself.
I've heard stories about reliability on these watches. There may have been a run of these which were not very reliable.
As for mine - I've had it 4 years now and its never missed a beat or even needed a new battery. I wear it every day, regularly use the alarm to get me up.
I love that when I want to adjust the time it adjusts exactly one hour back or forwards quickly then waits a few seconds before continuing. This is brilliant at daylight saving time or when I whiz over to Europe as I do regularly.
I'm surprised at the comment about not being able to get one wet. Mine says 30m water resistant on the back - don't they all?
I swam in a pool in mine recently without any issues and regularly wash it under the tap or in the shower if I've been wearing it when doing a dusty job.
i've just done a couple of searches and a bit of reading about these now, and it seems the new version has a backlight on the LCD panel.
That might explain why its bigger.

the only difference I can see is the shape of the window section,Background colour of the dial. have they done anything else?
It's now water-res to 100m and has a more developed alarm and chronograph. There is a backlight function now, which addresses one of the big complaints of the standard model. I think they've improved the compass function too. On the other side of the coin, the watch is now considerably bigger (apparently).I have read a few reports that say water-resist reliability of the standard models is a bit hit-or-miss, although if I can get away with light swimming and the like I would happily take the standard model (in orange, thank you very much).

I like it
my complaint on the old one was it was too small and it was only w/proof to 30 m
both sorted now...
cant wait to see it in the flesh
make a good all purpose watch...
what about the other dedicated watch makers that make ABC watches? my complaint on the old one was it was too small and it was only w/proof to 30 m
both sorted now...

It just needs re-calibrating, have a look in the instruction book it shows you how to do it
Thanks thats good news it not going to be an expencive repair. Only problem is at the Moment i am working in Spain for a few months /year and havn´t got the book. on the subject of books with watches i was well impressed the the hidden book (novel) in the box, that came with this watch.
anyway like i say i don´t have that with me does anyone know if the instructions are on line, i have tried to serch but had no luck, plus my PC time is limeted (only one at work and 3 people use it)
thanks

press the T buttonanyway like i say i don´t have that with me does anyone know if the instructions are on line, i have tried to serch but had no luck, plus my PC time is limeted (only one at work and 3 people use it)

press the middle of the display until you get "12H Cm" (could be differet depending on what you have the watch set to)
Keep the T button pressed until SYNCHRO is displayed.
From there you can recalibrate. Using the + and - buttons
Hint. to syncronise the watch easier set the Lcd to 12.00 and the clock display to 12.00. this makes it much easier. when its syncronised adjust the LCD to the right time and the clock display will follow
Thanks for that. only now i cant even get it out of the alarm screen (the fault is getting worse) I may have to send it for repair when i return to the UK.
I do also think these watches have an alerhy to SPanish speaking counties as when i was in Cuba a year ago it did a simular thing but then returned to normal.

Brilliant just fixed my Tissot thats been out of synch for months, I have the worst instruction manual ever in the box, yeah I've got a really boring book about Tissot but no real manual.
Anyway happy as Larry I now have a decent watch to wear as my Omega has gone to be repaired and they have quoted 11 weeks!!!!
Cheers

Just bought my T Touch Expert. Like the design n overall features. However, I just wish that the axis is much tighter. The saphire cristal is without scratches but the bracelet and the watch do have scratch marks. It would be great that there's an Indentification feature like some sort of chip that keeps the details of the owner like Omega. But then again, a decent omega can be very expensive.
Like the box and the book that comes with it. I use the Azimuth function for the direction of Qiblah(Direction of prayers for Muslims) which is veeeery convinient if I go overseas.

I have one and the hour hand jumps a lot, ill go to put it on and its 3 hours out for no reason what so ever. My wife and brother both have Tissot's that do the same, my wife has a limited edition Danica Patrick and none of the hands line up on it, we cant have it swapped because its 1 of 14 that came to the UK and we had to special order it, we can have a refund but no replacement because there arent any. My brother collects the limited edition Nicky Hayden watches and reports that the hour hand changes completley at random, his black t-touch does it too. Puzzling, very common but no response from Tissot on the matter.
Appart from that I enjoy the watch and wear it often, even though i have better when tinkering with engines ill wear it because its titanium and doesnt mark.
