Interesting to see in the latest copy of Evo, that having 'properly' tested the (overpriced, overhyped and unreliable IMHO) Caparo T1, it gets a sound thrashing by the good old Ult GTR720
0-60mph 3.8 secs (GTR720 2.6secs)
0-100mph- 6.2secs (GTR720 5.3secs)
0-100mph-0 11.3 secs (GTR720 9.4 secs)
standing 1/4mile- 11 secs (GTR720 9.9secs)

0-60mph 3.8 secs (GTR720 2.6secs)
0-100mph- 6.2secs (GTR720 5.3secs)
0-100mph-0 11.3 secs (GTR720 9.4 secs)
standing 1/4mile- 11 secs (GTR720 9.9secs)

Well, I think that sound thrashing would be reversed as soon as bends appear.
Might be a handful, but it's a bloody quicky handful. Reckon it would be 5 seconds a lap quicker round the Bedford circuit than a high spec Ultima?
Its 60-100 time is quicker too.
I don't like them, but they are certainly quick and I doubt there's a road legal Ultima on the planet that will stay close on most tracks.

Didn't Top Gear test the T1 at 1:10 around their track? That's 2 sec. faster than the Ultima. But I also heard T1 engineers themselves say they couldn't do more than 5 or 10 miles on a regular road in a T1 before popping a vertebra.
"As one of the most popular BBC television shows worldwide, Top Gear, had their anonymous race track driver, the Stig, put the T1 through its paces on their makeshift airport race track with astonishing results. Smashing the previous record held by the the Koenigsegg CCX the Caparo T1's lap time was a full seven seconds quicker at 1 min 10.6 seconds. Despite the almost vulgar display of performance, Top Gear rule makers disqualified the T1 from making their final results since it is required that each eligible contender must have a minimum ride height which allows clear passage over a speed bump"So yes - it was quicker, but not, it won't go over a speed bump

The GTR posted a 1min12.8secs which (at almost 5 secs quicker than the Koenigsegg CCX) isn't exactly shabby.
Against the T1, the Ult could almost be described as the 'practical' option though

if any car is generating enough download to record 3Gs then there is going to be a certain amount of heat and energy going into the tyres. Like anything else on the vehicle, it will need to be engerneed to cope with this.
i dont fancy running around a corner at 3Gs and having a blow out.

Not with all that armco at the ring

P.S. Whilst I am here, Gaz, how the devil are you man?
Stuart is doing a proper number on FN54, engine install is
, can't wait to get on track with him ( he is trying to play it down a bit but something tells me that he is a bit of a dark horse, nearly BLACK in fact
)Also - one point when comparing cars must be the price tag - Difficult to say whats "worth" what, but a top end ultima at say £60k and a Caparo at £260k (for what looks like the new KTM x bow at £55k)its interesting what you get for your money.
The x-bow looks a better bet value/performance wise that the Caparo IMO. If thats the kind of car your looking for.....

Or you could go and buy a 10 year old F1 car and blow the Caparo away.
I'd be surprised if any Caparos get driven to a track day (if they are, I doubt they'll drive themselves away again
), so why kid themselves it's a road car. Sod being a passenger in one too, unless you're 8 stone and 5feet tall.
If you want a quick track only car with passengers, a Juno would make far more sense, be almost as quick and save approx £200k. No pretence, no willy waving, that's all the Caparo is about really isn't it?

There won't be anything original on FN54. What, with new engine, LSD box and new wheels on the cards. I would'nt be surprised to see it sprayed black next year!

These cant be on form times for the Caparo as it bearly beats my canam which was twice the weight and yet less power.0-60mph 3.8 secs (GTR720 2.6secs)
