Is it possible to hire a 'ro or VXR8?
Discussion
Supposed to be going on holiday in Cornwall next week: nice trip down in the 'ro, bit of driving about and generally scaring the locals in tunnels, etc...
...however my car is currently sitting folornly and undriveably at Picador's waiting for the GM parts machine to spring forth a power steering component. It's been over a week so far, a delay which I gather is not uncommon! I've nothing but praise for the guys at Picador, they're doing all they can and they've even lent me a shed to keep me going while the car is off the road - beyond the call of duty IMO. Yet the day of departure draws ever nearer and my thoughts have turned to the possibility of hiring a suitable replacement.
So - anyone know if it's possible and not prohibitively expensive?

Have a word with Graham, it is always worth a try! We have all the pipes in stock
You should be getting a phone call from Picador about now

Not heading off on holiday until mid-morning on Monday so hopefully can get the car sorted for then. Fingers crossed!
Thanks Monkfish!

You're not considering opening up a branch on the south coast at all, are you?

It's nice to hear someone is coming near my end of the country . I know i'm sad but i'd be very grateful if you could put my monaro on the spotted list , i always look and everyone else seems to live up the other end .
If you travel down to Exeter , carry on down the A38 instead of A30 and ther's a great tunnel the other side of Tamar Bridge , we always have fun in it - for my son's sake of course .

If you Power steering pipes have corroded get your air conn ones checked out as well. Bloody expensive to fix them!
The aircon had gone as well and was my original reason for booking it into Picador's as well as needing new front pads, this was before the power steering fluid decided to tunnel out and escape..... they re-gassed the a/c with the leak detection dye but couldn't find any leaks, so hopefully all is well there and it just needed a refill. The aircon pipes you mentioned were sorted under warranty about 2 years ago - car's out of warranty now of course but if those pipes go again for the same reason as last time I'll not be best pleased. I believe there's a known problem that is one of corrosion due to electrolytic contact with a steel hose clip, and entirely preventable, but I'm not 100% certain that's what went wrong last time.Edited by moosepig on Thursday 18th September 21:26

Not sure which part is broken but it's some kind of pipe I think.
