Just bought a car that was on the face of it completely opposite to everything I thought I wanted and I absolutely love it!!

I know how hard it was for Pete (cerby54) to part with the car so I won't labour the point about how stunning it looks, how glorious it sounds, how it sounds like the worlds biggest bowl of rice crispies on the over run, how it pulls like steroidal Swede on Worlds Strongest Man or even just how it puts a smile on yer face - oh no - that would be cruel! (I'm soooo gonna keep out of his way after posting that).

I'll just say Cerberas - yeah, I "get it" now. Having had a chance to let rip a bit this evening I can definitely say that this ol' 4.2 certainly feels to pull harder than the 4.5 I drove down over the weekend. Stand by for the usual bout of "how do I do this" types of newbie posts.

I'm already "adding to shopping cart" with online goodies - Pete really has put his soul into that car and I'll at least try do right by it/her/him*

the car strangely feels like an old friend - very reminiscent of my cobra, front V8, lively rear drive, bloody great transmission tunnel with stloads of heat soak!

  • obviously it's a her or him - haven't decided yet. Mrs thinks him, I obviously think Angeli.....er....her! No doubt there'll be a name to follow, lol

Welcome to the fold.
What a great car, looks minted.
After 1 year of cerb ownership i still cant get the grin off my face, even when walking past "HER" in the garage !!! You'll be no stranger to overpowered rear wheel drives then. How does cerb compare to cobra ? Had the chance some years ago to test drive a Ac CRS 5 ltr.v8, and could not believe the acceleration, until i drove a cerb, Wow !!!
Anyway, try and take it easy.

Nice and welcome to the fold.

I still remember some new owner moments.

The first time through a tunnel. I turned around and went through it three times grinning biggrin

The first time your exhaust note sets off car alams

Just walking into the garage for something and seeing it there...

Noo, Noo, Noooo - Definitely a female - curvy and sexy, always manages to make me spend money on her that I can't afford, can be a bit temperamental, bites back at me when i least expect it, takes priority over everything else, still excites me after all these years - yeah she's female, but one in Thigh boots with a whip in her hand and the sexiest, dirtiest voice in the business, don't you dare cross her, she's scary Baby! smile

Look at it. It's a still picture. No motion, no sound, and yet it still looks like a caged demon. I can almost hear the panting as it waits to be unleashed, the barely concealed violence, the raw power, the arrogance gained by knowing that, while it is controlled for now, one mistake by it's owner will let it free to kill.

Cerb ownership, not quite as dangerous as summoning demons, but almost. lol

Was going to ask - is there a very large TVR hot water bottle . . . tongue out

Nah, been driving it all morning, lol! Rang in and took a half day.

Day dreaming at the lights and then realised they'd changed - overcooked it, chirping the rears nicely - oops - lifted off, kangaroo'd like a tw@t then gunned it and shot off like either of Linford Christies trainers with the rear squirming all over the shop, lol!
Must check them tyre pressures - very easy to break traction, much more so than the cobra which had same width rears but much higher profile.

All this in bone dry conditions too - rain quite clearly equals death!

Hi mate - never took the piss (much!) - no the P4's gone. Not seen you down the HW House for a long old time - see Mick sold his cob finally. Be good to swap notes on decats and stuff as your local.

Please oh please - its not how these things look but more importantly how well they are underneath that is to be considered most when buying.
As nice looking as Smash's car is he's got some issues already.
When will people ever learn smile

None taken! tongue out

True - but to be fair it wasn't just looks - some well respected indy names were saying very good things about mine, chassis is clean as, engine rebuilt by APM etc. etc. - all boxes were ticked but . . .

It just goes to show how TVR's can keep you on your toes!

Sorry Smash - didnt mean anything by it. You dont strike me as being wet behind the ears when it comes to high performance motors - probably just an unlucky example and I reckon you'll soon sort out the niggles.

It just amazes me how many less experienced newbys buy purely on the basis of looks and get bitten well and truly in the a**e when things inevitably go wrong.

Hope you managed to sort yours
