...Is red the new white??

Been in London for the day and noticed nearly all police vehicles were red, from fully marked 5 series to a Transit. Is this a ploy as I was always led tp believe red was for the fire brigade????

It has been the case for a while. It is a special part of the police. I think city police. You also see the cars in High Street Kensington. Standard colour now seems to be silver instead of white - and cars seem to be diesel instead of petrol. Loads of Silver BMW 530d Jam Sandwiches around my part of town.

I was on the embankment and saw a battalion of marked red transits outside the MoD. Is it an anti terroism squad??

My brother in law served in the DPG or DPU as he called it.

I always thought the ARV's were red too - or perhaps all the DPG's vehicles carry firearms as well?

Went to Uni in South Ken (Imperial) and all we ever saw were DPG/DPU. lots of sensitive Embassies around that area (Iran, Kuwait etc.).

They seemed to not need much reason to start waving guns around.

I too went to Imperial and very quickly learnt that you should always call the BiB in red cars "sir" due to the boot full of weapons...

Got stopped by them once for a 'vehicle check' and the guy took me round the back of his vehicle to check my documents. Boot was open and full of lots of 'toys', I'm sure it did it just to make sure I knew not to mess with them !!!
