Buying a SL

OK so looking around at a next car and the SL has been talking to me for a while.

So before I contact the halifax for the loan money (thats a joke in poor taste by the way)

I thought I would ask you lovely lot if it was a good or bad idea and what I should be looking for in a second hand 2003 ish model (I'm guessing prices are still dropping as they can tbe an easy sale right now)..

Please tell me if you think I'm quite mad, honest opinions or where to go for buying advice?

They certainly are cheap these days: £22grand for a 500 at the Merc dealer with all the warranty.

I've been watching the prices of these for the last year and boy you can get a lot of car for Vectra money!

Quite possibly one of the nicest looking mass production cars going. It may not handle like a GTR but who cares, they are designed for crusing and lording it over other motorists.

As mentioned, £22k can get a dealer car with FSH, warranty and all the options. I should imagine you'll get around mid 20s MPG, insurance shouldn't be too bad, pretty solid cars but the warranty will make you more at ease.

If I had 20k (and no kids) I'd be seriously interested.

Does appear to be a bit too good to be true - thats all thats holding me back also spoilt for choice on the numbers available.

I even had a good look at the latest Sl as I thought it may have had a serious redesign, but its just a face lift.

Piggy bank is at serious risk and could even make some savings to spend on the extra fule as it will be replcing two cars
