MR2 MK2 Cat Bypass
Discussion
Hi,
anyone fitted a cat bypass to an MR2 MK2 (in particular, the 3SFE engine) 2.0 NA?
I've got a 1990 'H' and the MOT people have advised I can legally bypass and pass the emissions (apparently anything up to 'K' plate?)
Toyota seemed to bring the cat in early (2 years early!
) to get ready for the legislation, and as I've been quoted upwards of £200 for the cat, bypass seems the way to go (and any extra power will be a bonus)

turbo's can get away without a cat up until end of july1995 (N Reg) as sw20 + 3s-gte dont exist on the database
I checked this with VOSA, if the car was manufactured after July 1995 even it if its not on the database it needs a cat. Mines a November 1995

Yup,
thats the situation, rust means its blowing around the cat so its new cat at £200+ or cat bypass for £60
Not a power thing, couldnt give a rats as we wont be keeping that much longer
Cars done us well (had it 10 years), but typical H reg red car, gone pink in a lot of places, laquer gone in one place and I cant be arsed to keep polishing/t cutting
