Next year sees the 50th anniversary of DeTomaso with a worldwide gathering planned at Modena to celebrate or indeed commiserate as in all probability the marque is gone for good.

None the less over the last weekend of May 2009 the DTDC (the British owners club) is planning a trip which will of course mean taking a convoy through Europe, over the Alps and into northern Italy, no jokes please on how many make it there let alone make it back

What would be useful are ideas on routes and decent stop off points. Assuming the convoy departed at lets say 7 AM on either the Euro Tunnel or a ferry it will certainly require at least one nights stop and with a clear preference for a decent bit of scenery etc.

Knowing plenty if you have driven to the various factories in Modena your ideas and assistance would be most welcome.

I'm about to set off on a similar trip on Monday, but to the Lambo factory at Bologna. Have planned for it to be a two night sstopper on the way down and back so that we can hopefully enjoy the driving a bit more. Also going over the Alps rather than through the tunnel, and will be stopping at a Chateau in France, and a nice hotel on a hill overlooking a lake and next to a waterfall in Switzerland, so hopefully it should be very nice.

Will try and post some photos when I get back in a couple of weeks time.
