Oil for Sagaris....what and where?

Hi all,

Just checked the oil in my sagaris and is between min and max. I have decided i should top her up but not sure which oil grade or type is best. Any advice? Also, do you just pour the oil in the where the dipstick is held?

Mobil 1 0w/40w is a popular choice or perhaps 5w/40w depending on the mileage of your car and if you track it/drive it hard etc. I'm sure somebody with more knowledge will be along shortly to talk about the differences between fully and semi synthetic oils etc. but that's what i use.

And yes you top it up where the dipstick is.

Hi, thanks for the reply. If does make a difference, the mileage is 10K and i don't think i'll be tracking it any time soon.

I'd go with Mobil 1 0w/40w then. It might be an idea to do an oil change if you don't know what oil is in there at the moment aswell.

15W/50 Mobil 1 Fully syn


Make sure you get a full oil change inc the engine drysump (9litres approx)

10W/40 semi Syn - as per advised TVR Power

15W/50 Mobil 1 Fully syn- Hexham avised-
I use this and fantastic for summer and track use, if used in winter, best garage above 5degC
50psi idle at 14degC
25psi idle at 65degC
No rattles whatsoever on start up

I would have thought a lower viscosity oil would have been better for the OP as he said he doesn't track the car and it is still fairly low mileage? Also is lower oil pressure a bad thing? (obviously not stupidly low) the way i understand it it just means the oil is flowing faster around the engine.

Sorry to butt in but i have 30,000 on the clock on my T350 What oil would be best? I have Mobil 1 0W-40 at the minute but not used it yet and now i don't know whether to use it at all

Hi all. I called TVR penninsula, who last serviced the car, and they used 15/50. I am probably going to use this as the car is running sweet.
