I know decat has been done to death, but i cant find anyone anywhere casting their views on the ACT "gasflowed without cat" y-piece.

Also was wondering if any other mods will be needed, such as "tune resistors" etc?

Hi Tom

I've fitted one to mine

No pre cats or silencer either
Im running with the original tune resistor and the car runs fine although you can tell its running a bit too rich - exhaust smells of petrol, slightly lumpy at low revs and lots of popping on the over run.
I changed the tune resistor for the MOT and it ran much smoother.
Changed it back though as I missed the popping and banging !!!

Cheers Andy

Thanks Andy, don't suppose you've got any vids online of it have ya?

What was the fit like? did the you really need to lever the manifolds over to get it to mate, or was it a good fit?

Lastly of course, performance + noise differences?

Thanks

I have one of TIM's Y pieces. I have a Emerald ECU so cant say what you have to do for the Lucas but I think it is as said before the tune resister needs changing. Clive at V8 Enhhancements also does a niece Y piece and IIRC sells the correct resistors to go with them.

The only reason to change the tune resister would be to change from closed loop to open loop mode. Do you have to change the headers as well? If the replacement headers don't support lambda sensors then that would explain why you need to change to open loop, but I'd be a little surprised to find that was the case.

Hi Tom

Y-Piece fitted very easily
Because its much smaller than the original CAT 'dustbin' there's plenty of room.
I used a ratchet strap to pull the manifolds in and then tightened the two manifold clamps
The whole job took about 30 minutes.
Couldnt comment whether there's more or less power.
The noise however is unbelievable !!!
Very loud - but not too loud when cruising.
Sounds like a cross between a Lancaster bomber, Nascar and a Harley Davidson - which is all good !!!
Got no vids up on You Tube though - if you're ever in the Midlands let me know and you can come and look

cheers Andy
