I never see another TVR on my daily 50 mile commute return trip, am I the only one who uses a griff as a daily hack and a weekend supermodel. Or are all the ones that are left shunting tempremantal beasts that people do not feel confident to drive everyday. I see so many for TVR's for sale can't help but question the rationale for selling at such a low price, they get sold for being a second car , well turn it into a first car and get some use. A 400 will be good for reliable 120k miles plus with regular use, its low mileage intermittant use that has any chance of bringing them to an early demise. Come on guys use these cars! give something to take away the boredom of boxster counting.

Totally agree with what you say, I can drive for several hundreds of miles on a business trip and never see a solitary TVR and then drive locally and see several.
Excluding enthusiasts and club members I think that people buy TVRs because they look different and sound great but are scared to death of driving them after they have their first 'moment' and the money that is necessary to keep them running well. It could well be that it's also that the majority of cars these days are FWD and the RWD experience is so different and unforgiving for the unwary?

I have my griffith since 12 years now (from new) i never ever found any other griffith or chimera at all on my driving, the only other tvr i ever met in Italy was a Tuscan a guy bought and took to a local car show (BTW he won first prize, i did win the second....).

Just to add, I've driven my griffith twice from southern Italy (where is my family house) streight to northen Spain where i'm resident now...2.750 kms driving open air day and (partly) during night, 2 beautiful days ''on the road'' that i will never forget!

I had a chim about 7 years ago and used as my company wagon I am now doing the job with a 16year precat,
once you get past all the problems that inactivity brings, she's fan b*&* tastic, docile in traffic and a joy to drive when things allow the legs to be stretched. Suspension needs fettling for proper everyday use (english roads)
Yes you have to know what a ratchet looks like to keep costs down, but hey that is part of the fun,you can keep the costs down but the RV8 cars are very reliable when used daily.

I did the same sort of trip on my honeymoon in my lotus those roads in Northern italy / southern france are sublime. Mind you everyone knows even a tvr will struggle to leave a family of 4 grandma and luggage in a punto driven by an italian slipstreaming you to read the badge on the back. Truly I had this happen to me in the lotus. ok not the family bit!

Drive mine all year round and it's always my first choice for business use...commute from the west country into London or Kent, and I get a respectable 33mpg on motorway cruising. smile (well its better than my Espace anyway frown )

The only time I don't drive mine is for the commute to work and back, and thats not through choice but because the Mazda doubles as my co. car and our MX5 demonstrator. The Griff will be coming to work some weekends though, when I can get away with it !!

Have done over 1000 miles since I picked it up 2 weeks ago, looks like the 6000 mile limit on the insurance may have to be extended !!

Just can't stop driving it driving !!

Had a day off last Monday, Mrs MoJo gets home from work, "so what have you spent your day doing ". Me "went for a drive". Mrs MoJo "thats it ?". Me "yep, just kept on driving [pauses] all day !!" Mrs MoJo shakes head and wanders off hehe

Another daily Griff driver here (and plenty of us do the same). As you say, it's fun, sensible enough and even works out cheap enough if you look after it yourself. Is your 50 mile journey on the motorway? If so perhaps you need to switch to A or B roads to find everyone else! smile

I use mine every working day regardless of weather conditions - something to look forward to before and after work.

Since i have had mine back from having the paintwork done, i have used it pretty much every day..

When the weather becomes really bad i will just ease up on the right peddle and take even more care...

But its nice to know your likely to be the only one you see on your commute smile

Only issue at moment is the fuel use...AFM im told...

I took the rear roll bar off mine,(have konis all round) much more grippy and forgiving now, even in the wet, I can now can use a fair wadge of throttle on corner exit before a progressive break away will gently induce itself, before it was truly not forgiving,no warning even in the dry full throttle snap oversteer could occur, I could swear I was trying to go straight at the time :-). seriously though Need to make mine a little more composed entering fast undulating bumpy corners as its a little underdamped or so it bouncy tramlining and bump steering off line leads me to believe. Nothing like full on everyday use as a development tool. GOoD to see so many are keeping the marque alive!

I saw 5 TVR's the other day. Just really rubbed the pain of mine being off the road at the moment!
