Exhaust manifolds
Discussion
Well set too and did it, manifolds off repaired, lagged and refitted.
Managed to extract them as per the official cerb forum instructions, though did not disconnect steering shaft just removed nearside engine mount from engine as well a chassis. New bolts and a lot of cursing as a lagged manifold is now bigger than the one removed.
The result
Lots of smoke and concerned passers by as the lagging got hot, how long does the smoke take to go away?
Charge light on, new big fuse fitted all now well.
Engine now very smooth at idle though idle speed has dropped slightly, will check again from cold in the morning to see if it will tick over when cold.
Manifolds were cracked in a number of places, including a hole under a very dodgy previous repair, so I assume the lambda is now seeing the correct gas
and not extra air drawn in.
The best bit is the occasional pops and the odd flame has turned into world war three on the overun - result.
A big thankyou to all who have posted solutions to problems that have occurred. I don't think I'd have tackled this without reading the tales of those who have.
BTW job took 12 hours on my own including nipping out to get a couple of tyres fitted as the wheels were already off.
