Currently not a TVR owner but lingering on the edges for too long now. Now seems to be a good time to lever open the cash tin.
Looking at the classifieds, no two cars seem to be the same.Is there any way to find out how a particular car left the factory?
Do the original factory build records still exist for cars built in the last few years at Blackpool?
Thanks in advance.

Easiest way is to look in the manual, if the car still has one. The spec is listed.

Pretty hard to find a 'standard' car as most would have been specced by the first owner and then had one or two mods done along the way either comestic like adding Leven alloy parts and changing wheels to engine mods.

Being a 'standard factory car' is not something that really exists due to the high levels of options that were available or somthing that is high on the list ov TVR owners unlike some other maufacturers. Usually the requirement to finding a car is its condition along with service records and colour combinations that you like.

Mine is pretty much standard.

The only mods are a heatshield over the starter motor, the hot start kit, and adjustable shocks, (set to standard ride height).

Everything else I have kept totally standard. Still has all the cats/silencers in, original Pioneer radio, original indicator stalks/handbrake lever etc.

Not sure I agree. Yes you could specify most cars with virtually any paint job and any colour interior, but apart from that there were very few options. Full leather, wool carpets, heated seats, hydratrak, ACU and PAS were about it from memory.

Both of mine are factory standard - spent ages recently looking for a Griff that didn't have any Leven parts etc. to keep as a standard car.

Wouldn't take too much notice of the factory spec as TVR records were sketchy at best. We requested the original spec from the factory (when it existed) and found the car has PAS and A/C which it hasn't.

might get more joy out of the archivist Richard Sails - he helped me out last year and very very helpful. Chuggabum would'nt return my calls at all. Waste of space.

As far as I know the factory records for the cars built in the last few years at the factory are still in TVR's hands. Until they shut Bristol Ave they used to sell the info on the cars for about £30 a go (or so I am told). Unfortunately they have not passed any recent information on to us although we have asked a few times.

To be honest I would not worry about the original spec for the car, just find the one you like, get it checked by someone who knows the pitfalls of that model and if ok buy it, drive and enjoy it.

Cheers
