Hi Guys
Need some advice. Im looking for a weekend toy and seen GT and love it. This is my first SPORTSCAR so im abit hesitant loosing shed loads.

I know no one can judge the prices but if you had 65k which car? Me personally like the GT and V8 Vantage. With that price range i will have warranty which is nice to konw. Looking to keep it for say 6 months and then change to something else.

Helpful advice very welcome

Have you test driven a GranTurismo yet? The only reason I ask is because you refer to it as a sportscar when it really isn't one. As the name suggests it is a grand tourer and though fairly quick, it's weight rules it out of being an agile sports car. It's a heavy car and this is very evident when braking or cornering hard. It's at it's best when cruising and is a lovely way to travel on longer journeys.

Maybe sportscar was not the right word.........

Yes i have tested it today and loved it. Im looking for chill out car, which is comfortable. I know the v8 and GT are completely different. With GT i thin i have the option of using it every day but im worried about the way prices are falling on it.

Umm, it's a Maserati. If you are worried about residuals, you are most definitely looking at the wrong marque. Sorry, but this is 100% fact. Ferrari and Lamborghini residuals are falling in this climate, Maserati with it's traditionallly poor residuals are falling even more rapidly. Aston V8's are very common, so their residuals are falling rapidly too just check out the PH classifieds. Good time to buy, if you don't worry about residuals. If you do then stay out of the market as values are falling - almost everywhere.

If you are bothered about residuals then whatever you do, don't buy a Merc or BMW they can't give them away at the moment. I was looking at CLS 500 two months ago, 05 cars were 26k and above, now they can be had for 21k. Also don't forget, the bid/offer spread when you sell back to the trade which on a 65k car WAS at least 10k, in todays climate expect to lose between 15k and 20k in 6 months. Maserati prices aren't falling as quickly as the poster above states, those cars were 78k new, after one year they are 65k and up. Compare that to the new M3 which drops from 54k to 40k in a matter of months.

Thanks for the posts.

I know you loose money on cars, i dont have a problem with that. Being im about choose the my first high performance car, im just considering which one to go for and loose as little within 6-12 months.

Or another choice is to wait for a few months and then take the plunge..................
