BMW Prof NAV OS
Discussion
No need to sell anything, the upgrade info is freely available from www.x5world.com
There you can get the disc to upgrade your Nav, and use 2008-2 (I assume).

should have said I went to my regular dealer not the nearest and after some sensible dialog with parts and the service manager they realised what I was after - all done and tested in 45 mins / while having coffee and cake. TBH the cost 70 quid was worth it in time saved myself and reassurance that if b
ksed they put it right. they said nobody had ever come in to request OS upgrade... so for others persevere and try to speak to back room guys not muppets in suits at keyboards. but not all dealers are any use - but we know that already!

The most informative BMW SatNav forum in the world.... Salesmen at BMW Main Dealers have not a clue about the factory systems. I'll guarantee that if you bought a brand new BMW today it will come with a 2007-1 or 2007-2 European map DVD - NOT the current 2008-2!!
2 years ago I used to sell these DVD's for 1/10th of the £250 BMW price - with a current speed camera database added.
If you want the latest 2008-2 Europe "High" map (Not compatible with I-Drive equipped BMW's) then Google & download/install "Bitlord" (a torrent programme), then search for & download BMW 2008-2. Use Ultra ISO to burn the map to a DVD AT THE SLOWEST SPEED you are able. All instructions are on www.x5world.com.

tried similar - twice - and both times nav didn't recognise the new os disk...(others have seen same - randomness of download/and getting lowest write speed) so rather than have to arse about like a dweeb and go out and get new blanks I though feck that....2 years ago I used to sell these DVD's for 1/10th of the £250 BMW price - with a current speed camera database added.
