If they fail F1 they will kill Donington Park

Donington Park has long been my favoured track to spectate from. However the F1 plans remove the best spectator area on any track in this country. The infield Hillside viewing from Craners to Mcleans.
This area affords a great view of the overtaking that starts at Craners and continues to Coppice. The outer track viewing cannot compete as it is too removed for an easy walk into the paddock and obscured by fencing.
If F1 doesn't make Donny or even if it does the character of the track will be ruined forever as fans will have to watch even club races through bloody binoculars.
If they have any doubts about meeting the requirements for F1 in time they should PULL OUT NOW!!! before it's too late.

I agree. I sat there at the BTCC this year for the first few races, truely astonishing how quick the cars went through Craner. This F1 hype better be worth it

Got to disagree here. The best viewing has to be from the Old Hairpin where you can see from the exit of Redgate up towards Starkys. It's just a matter of opinion but I've always wondered why so many people would want to sit 1/2 mile away from the track. OK, you may see more of the track but you get no perspective of speed and noise sat so far back with a mass of open grass infront of you.

I think the plans look superb for Donny. The decision to give it to them is definitely a scam by Bernie to get the GP away from the UK and into another oil rich country....Russia. And for that reason I hope they succeed.

When the first GP starts I'll be sat at the bottom of Craner grinning like I was in 1993 as Senna went by.

HHmm.......it's an F1 GP, are you some kind of celebrity ligger, villain or part time WAG as thats the only way you're getting near the paddock.

And if you look at the plans the paddock moves so the pitlane is on the exit of Coppice along the inside of the straight to the Dunlop Bridge. I guess that another bridge will provide access to the infield area.

No I was thinking more in terms of other race series not F1. The BTCC , Dunlop , Renault masters etc etc

All known about. they are still on-track for a 5th november decision. And the transformatiobn can be done in that timeframe- they did a lot more in a lot less time in Shanghai and valencia.

Agreed, I think event outside the present financial climate, the whole idea is pretty fanciful!

I am sure it will be outsourced as said previously, if only to give the finger to the BRDC.

So according to that article a decision on planning will be reached by the end of the year which probably means January or maybe even February if councils are anything to go by leaving Donny less than 18 months to build. Or have they started already with fingers crossed hoping permission goes through? Shortage in the engineering sector too what with Crossrail and the Olympic village taking huge construction resource.

It's going to be interesting.

Why have a GP in Britain that pays Bernie 10 million if he's lucky when he could have 1 in India that pays 25?

If I were Bernie I'd be subsidising the anti-Donnington GP groups on the sly.
