Routine service

I called sherwoods the other day to price a main service for a CV8. Total cost was £217.00, and they have to ORDER in the parts! My car has got around 14000.miles on the clock,so the point is what do they change apart from the oil and filter?
Monkfish advertised a 20,000 mile service for £140.00 how come the big price difference?
Its along way to travel but I might get Monkfish to change the diff and gearbox oil at the same time. Is the oil better than standard GM stuff? Comments please....

Id rather Monkfish worked on my car than VX as apart from them taking a bit more interest in the car and being cheaper they also use high quality proven oil from what I understand.

I recently travelled from whitstable in kent to monkfish for a 30k service while I waited.

In my experience allways go to someone who knows !!!

The guys there are excellent and friendly, well worth the time to travel !!

Had my diff and gearbox and oil changed at Monkfish. Something I recommend getting changed for the state of the original stuff. Cannot fault the staff or their knowledge.

What does that cost at Monkfish please?

its not much and if you get it done at the same time as the service well worth it.

Another thing is to take a good look at your clutch fluid and change if required. Very easy to do yourself

what? I was being serious, its a 10 minute job and easy to do. Next time I'll have a spare bottle of dot4 with me at the strip

Thanx mate. Thats very sporting of you. Anyway if you were in my boat and you had £1000 (give or take a couple of hundred) to spend at the Fish what would you do. Re map first


Oh and when you bring the dot4 can you wear those leathers

i'd go for the road response pack then see where the rest takes you. You wont notice the remap as much as the older cars as the jump isn't as big but worht speaking to Roger.

There would still be a change though would'nt there. Col will kick my ass if i spend the cash and dont see any change.
Whats the next stage up with re mapping? Would it be worth skipping the first one?
How does the road response change things?

And are you sure your not trying to talk me out of a remap because you know your ass will be mine

There is only so much benefit from tuning alone. It steps up by X amount in the first case but to get more you nede to make changes such as cat back/high flow cats/headers/intake thats the mild stuff. At each stage a retune to match the mods. The increase in power decreasing each change but means your mod is optimum. It isnt so much about the high end hp its more to do with in gear response too

What differences would i get from the road responce? Would'nt you recommend a Rip shifter? What about service + diff oil change. Col also mentioned today maybe better filters. What do you think?
