I don't know if its just me but today I was driving the cerb and on three occasions I was tailgated by cars so close that I could not see their number plates. Fine on a dual carriage way where such irritants can be dispelled with a gentle squeeze of the throttle, but on more minor roads where traffic conditions don't always allow you to overtake I don't see what is to be gained buy driving right up someone chuff like that! Do any of you get much of this kind of crap?

Standard fare for those few who drive such rare fine beasts , consider it a form of worship , then either dart into a layby ( I did same not 4 hours ago ) , or careful use of right foot on open road !biglaugh

Put a BIG TVR sticker on the back - they're trying to read what it is.

I get this a lot. I don't know why, I think they like to go to the pub and say "I raced one of those TVR's today.. they ain't all that, I was on his bumper for miles, couldn't shake me!!"

I usually just give them a few pops and bangs and they back off

Had a 3 series uber chav at the weekend. All over the back, then alongside, outside and inside.

I get this in traffic quite often. It's usually because they're trying to read what the badge says. If you look in the rear view mirror you'll see them trying to pronounce it, just watch their lips, "Sir - Burr - Rah" smile

Simon

I've noticed this too.

I find either take it up to 3500rpm and lift, pops and bangs and they think the front of their cars fallen off.

Or failing that, wind her right up full throttle and suddenly lift....hey presto 2ft flames. Road conditions don't always allow for this one though.

I get this from time to time in whatever car I'm driving. I normally just back right off the accelerator... slow down to walking pace. They get the message and either back off themselves or overtake. I won't be goaded into going faster by anyone... unless they're driving a Cerb, Caterham, Stratos, etc etc. biggrin

Appreciate it can be a worry, but I'd consider it a form of compliment of sorts. I must also confess to doing the same when the Essex TVR owners club set off from Shoeburyness on their monthly meet.

I'd been waiting for them in the wrong friggin car park (again) and after some obsenities told the Mrs (whom I've convinced we need to get a Cerbera) and the daughter to get in the Freelander.

All of sudden in front of me they pulled out, and thankfully the Cerbera (Spd 6) was right in front of me. I stayed as close as was safe so I could hear the exhaust note and to let the Mrs get a good look at the shape. She was impressed although I'd prefer a 4.2/4.5 personally.

Anyway, if you were the Cerbera owner in question, I was the green Freelander behind you until Leigh station when you floored it to get round the road works. I wasn't trying to worry you, just doing proactive marketing. It worked and the Mrs loves the shape and noise of the Cerbera!

Very common, seems to happen most times i go out. They are trying to read the badge. I have had a sticker made up that says "TVR torque of the devil". So at least they can tell their mates what has just blown them away. biggrin

Yep - much more 'on the road' interest in the Cerb compared to the two Fiat Coupes I had before.

Not sure I would fancy my chances with the bigger engined stuff, especially if it was an 'a' or 'b' road.

Not sure you would fancy your chances against Cyclone. I'm not sure stealth or sleeper are the right words for a new Beemer - but it's safe to say it doesn't half go...

A good remedy for this is to angle your mirrors so you're oblivious to what's behind you. Re-angle when needed. Ignorance is bliss as they say.

850i is the nicest looking BM IMHO.

I had an X5 all over me yesterday. Rather than speed away, I hit the brakes. Needless to say the X5 driver didn't react too well.

I have to say with me it's the other way around - no one gets near my arse. I go 'performance car' baiting.

Had a great one the other day with some knob jockey in a new M3, I'd followed him for a while and you could see from his driving style that he thought he was a bit special, so going up a long dual carriageway hill he could see I wanted to get past so reluctantly he pulled over to the inside lane and then proceeded to put his foot down thinking I'd never get past him.... ha, ha, ha, made him look very little in front of his girlfriend. Great fun!! thumbup
