Hey guys, long time since iv posted on PH, but anyway. I have bought a 2006 Mercedes CLS, black/biege, AMG kit, 19's, TV/NAV, etc. Love the car to bits and it really has impressed me, but heres a few things.

Im thinking of getting a quad pipe conversion for the back, just change the back boxes hopefully, this will be purely a cosmetic modification. Anyone had this done? Whats your thoughts?

Then I want the rear badges (320 & CDI) removed from the back, is this tricky to do? I have read about the hair dryer/peeling trick, but would the paint mark underneath?

Also the car doesnt have Bi-xenon lights, can anyone reccomend a kit or somebody who can retro fit these to look OEM?

Last thing, anyone had their CLS re-mapped, i have been told a re-map is possible upto 260bhp? Have you had this done? Would you reccomend this? and does it effect the MPG by much?

Sounds very nice, great spec cool Cannot help with them all but:

The removal of the rear badges is a doddle, warm them up a little with a hairdyrer and they ping off with a credit card. Certainly no marks on my CLS afterwards.

I bought the Brabus chip for mine which takes it up to 274bhp/600nm and has really suprised me. I get better fuel economy as well - about 43mpg on a run - and still have my warranty in tact as well.

Thanks, I have had a price of £450 to fit the AMG style quad back boxes, that includes fitting and all trimming to the car, that seem a fair to anyone else? I was expecting it to be around £300 fitted if im honest....

Nice one - they're great cars!

If you are going to de-badge it be sure to take the "cls" badge off too. I have seen a clk where only the clk badge was left and IMHO it just didn't look right.

I would advise you against trying to turn your 320cdi CLS into a full blown AMG "lookalike", as tempting as it might seem, because it could give your insurance company an ideal get out for not paying out on a claim if it was stolen/recovered, as they would argue it was more "tempting" for a car thief.

In any case, you should certainly tell them about the mods, they have a habit of finding out anyway.
