Lovely pictures.......

I was stopped by security at the Thruxton BTCC a few years ago for taking photos of cars in the car-park; they wrote down al of the registration numbers of the cars we had taken photo's of and took our details; they said we would be suspects if any of the photgraphed cars were reported stolen?? Always put me off taking pics like you have above.

Really Matt ... Well I would only ever give my details to a BiB .... since it is technically private property, you would have to leave if asked, that is the only power they have ...

It didn't occur to them that people interested in cars might turn up at a race track for a motor race then?

Dont know what power they had to request your details, seems a bit arsy to me. I wouldnt have given mine, and told them if they had a problem, report me to the police, as I hardly think its an arrestable offence to be taking pictures of a car.

May have been different if I was found on private property taking pics of someones car (in someones house just say), but at BTCC?

We tried to decline giving our details, but they said they would take the registration of the car we were driving, and the details of the cars we had photographed and given them to the BiB!! TBH I think they were just a few jobsworths without much to do, as we were leaving during the second race so the carpark was pretty empty.

Personally, if you'd photo'd my car that close with interior shots too I wouldn't be chauffed it getting put out on the internet.

Nice car and spot though.

As it happens, I did not actually touch the car at all ... lets hope it does not go to Tesco car park. You must be naive in the extreme if you don't think people will take pixs of your £200k car, if you had one ....

Yeah as u say, sound like a couple of jobsworths. SPeaking as an ex copper myself, I dont think the bib would have been too bothered about it

I dont have a Fezza (have the latest shape S Class) but wouldnt mind someone taking pics of it myself if I did have one

This is what you say if approached whilst taking (handheld) photographs in a public place:

Under UK law, there are no restrictions on taking photographs in a public place or on photography of individuals, whether they are adults or minors. There is no right to privacy in a public place, although photographers are of course subject to the usual libel laws in the same way as any other citizen and should observe them. Equipment or film may not be confiscated, or images deleted by any person or officer unless a warrant for such action is issued. Any attempt without a warrant is considered assault under UK law.

You might have to excuse my ignorance here, but what is the risk with having pictures on a car on the net, particularly the ref to the interior shots?

Surely, its no more risky than driving it down to the shops?

I took my daughter back to uni last year in one of my sportier vehicles and every time I returned to it, tourists were taking pics of friends with it, sometimes draped over it. A lot of those pics will have me smiling and waving in the background !!!
